Lame Duck President - lame duck war?

Guests on Call takes a closer look at whether the surge is working in Iraq. If it is working, will it provide long-term stability to Iraq? Will the U.S. be willing to give Iraq it's sovereignty back?

Senior military officials have indicated that there will be a troop drawdown freeze in July of this year, when troops are back to pre-surge levels. The Army has come out saying there is only so much the forces can take before they fall apart. 15 month tours have been too long for the soldiers and the rate of suicide is still high among soldiers.

The Pentagon announced that Bush plans to ask Congress for another $70 billion for the Iraq War. With the fears of a U.S. recession worldwide, can we afford to stay in Iraq indefinitely?

With around 4 million refugees and displaced Iraqis still not able to come home, can we afford to leave Iraq before stability is achieved? How will stability be measured in Iraq?
