Sunshine Week 2007
March 11 through 17 is Sunshine Week across the nation. Sunshine Week celebrates our rights under the Freedom of Information Act to open government and access to information about government decision making.
Sunshine Week is also a time to educate our communities about our right to know. Events will be occuring nationwide to shed light on the laws that protect our access to government information.
Sunshine Week began as Sunshine Sunday in Florida in 2002. Sunshine Sunday was started by the Florida Society of Newspaper Editors. The event was so successful that the American Society of Newspaper Editors helped to create Sunshine Week, a national event, in 2005.
See more information about the Freedom of Information Act, Sunshine Week and the Radio-Television News Directors Association information for Sunshine Week under our "Web Resources" link on this blog.
